The sky’s the limit with the volunteer program at TCF. So far, TCF has been working with the younger generation of students from various other institutions in its volunteer programs over the years. TCF now plans on taking this program a few steps further, and engaging corporations to start volunteer programs involving their employees on a larger, long term scale. There is a dedicated team of employees working on the structure of such a program that will provide support to TCF all year round in various activities to benefit its students. |

TCF’s Education team has been working tirelessly to design, implement and evaluate academic processes for continuous improvement in schools all over Pakistan. Its three divisions Academics, Training and Evaluation contribute significantly in each of their respective fields. |
| |
| Academics |
| |
It is a universal fact that children learn best when they do things practically. Hence, a lot of emphasis is being laid on activity-based learning in TCF Schools to make learning more effective and interesting for our students.
Preparation of centralized examination papers focusing on
conceptual learning is one step in this direction, which will help in improving the quality of teaching and learning taking place in TCF schools. During the current academic year, maximum support was provided to all the schools and teachers by the Education team through regular visits and guidance in key areas like lesson planning and assessment |

methods. Formulation of Admission Test Papers was done keeping in mind average or below-average students, so to ensure standardization in student assessment throughout the country and help teachers diagnose where children stand at the time of admission, providing them support accordingly.
Modern educational software has also been introduced in TCF schools as a pilot project. Learning through IT would go a long way in making learning effective and interesting for children.

Monitoring and Evaluation |
| |
Throughout the year, Evaluation Team remained engaged in extensive visits with an aim to provide support and to monitor day to day activities in schools. These visits also created opportunities to observe implementation and experimentation of ideas shared during training and identification of future training needs. With an outreach to almost 95% schools, particularly to those far off, and coordinated efforts of the regional education teams, the Evaluation Team was further able to streamline processes and procedures in TCF Schools across the country. |

| Training |
| |
Teacher training is an integral part of TCF’s main stream projects. Our training programmes reflect a combination of needs analysis and recent trends and researches in the field of education at a global level. The training modules this year focused innovative teaching techniques and strategies for interactive teaching, story telling, no cost tea- |
| ing aids and behaviour management apart from lesson planning and assessment methods. The team |
 |
has also made a concerted effort to come up with an intensive programme of Training the Trainers at Karachi, Lahore and Faisalabad. It was a unique experience this year for trainers from Khushab (small town in Punjab) who had an amazing exposure and opportunity to learn & share together in Karachi.
These trainers are now involved in training nearly 3000 TCF teachers across Pakistan. |

| Science workshops |

Apart from internal programs, a specialized training for secondary science teachers was conducted by Ms. Barbara Janes, a veteran science teacher and former Peace Corps Volunteer. She learned about TCF in Chicago from TCF-USA President Danial Noorani and decided to volunteer for a month with TCF in Pakistan. Her training sessions in |
